Homeland security and Defense Business Council announces the development of a board of advisors

WASHINGTON, DC - Marc Pearl, CEO and President of the Homeland Security & Defense Business Council (Council), this morning announced the formation of its Board of Advisors within the Council.

The Board of Advisors is composed of recognizable former ranking public sector experts who served within the governmental side of the homeland security marketplace that have transitioned into the private sector. The Board was established to provide an important resource to provide counsel and valuable insight to the President and the overall Council. The Council's goal is to engage experts as an active part of a valuable process that will serve to foster private industry's understanding of the issues and needs that surround the structure and process within the public sector, strengthen the relationships between the private sector and homeland security officials, and assist in building a bridge towards a strong alignment between the two sectors - thus improving the nation's overall security. Board members' expertise and knowledge consists of a wide-range of relevant topics and technology that will provide invaluable resources and contacts for the Council.

Pearl detailed that members of the Board, "will help identify overarching trends, concepts, policies and opportunities that require engagement by both private and public sector organizations. The members of the Board of Advisors' are setting the path for the industry; they are not only the opinion makers but also the decision makers holding leadership roles of our nation's top institutions working in the homeland security market place."

Greg Pellegrin o, the Global Managing Director for Deloitte's Global Public Sector and Chairman of the Council's Board of Directors, expressed that he was, "Elated that the Board of Advisors had finally come into being." Pellegrine continued, "That the members of the Board of Advisers are a supreme compilation of the top minds in the industry; that shall provide forward thinking on how to best achieve the mission set forth in the ideals of an effective homeland defense programs in the most effective manner. This is a true extension of the Council's primary goal of molding the best practices of the private sector with the needs of the public sector."

The first meeting of the Board of Advisors took place in the Council's offices in downtown Washington, DC. The group consists of (in alphabetical order):

Andrew Maner, Former Chief Financial Officer, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and President, NISC - will serve as Chairman of the Board of Advisors.

Rajesh De, Former Counsel, U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and currently a partner with Mayer-Brown.

Michelle Mrdeza, Former Majority Clerk, U.S. House Committee on Appropriations, Subcommittee on Homeland Security

Greg Rothwell, Former Chief Procurement Officer, U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Scott Weber, Former Senior Counselor to the Secretary, U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Evan D. Wolff, Senior Advisor to the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense and the Environmental Protection Agency

The Homeland Security & Defense Business Council, a non-profit, non-partisan membership organization, promotes the importance of the private sector in achieving the vision and mission for homeland security.
